Catalogue Note
The mannerist aesthetic and tender grouping of Jupiter and Juno indicate this well-carved fruitwood relief was most likely executed by a Netherlandish artist drawing inspiration from Hendrick Goltzius’ (1558–1617) popular print series The Loves of the Gods.
