Condition

These fragments represent a composite group which will require remedial attention, restoration and assembling. The group has been put together and taken to pieces many times over the years and there are losses and damage from this process. Most notably in the from of metal tacks and the residual holes these have left. Both were originally conceived as two pendants suspended by a carved and pierced scallop motif with ring, these components are now in pieces and there are some losses, it may not be possible to re-create this original installation. Many leaves, petals and other details are fragmentary and there are chips to details. There is residual glue to some elements from previous breaks. Sotheby's would recommend physical inspection of the group and the department can send images of the fragments which make up this lot if requested before the sale date.
