Description

4to (7 5/8 x 5 3/8 in.; 194 x 136 mm). Title printed in red and black with woodcut allegorical border incorporating the royal arms at the top, calendar printed in red and black, additional sectional title for the Psalms within woodcut border; title soiled and torn in lower outer corner affecting woodcut border, light marginal soiling and spotting on a few leaves. Contemporary London calf gilt-tooled with the royal arms in center on a field of small thistles, gilt-stamped corner-pieces at four corners, smooth spine gilt with scrollwork tools; rebacked with original spine laid down, joints cracking, corners mended but those at the bottom torn.

A handsome binding with the arms of King Charles I. A similar example appeared in the Oxford exhibition of 1968.
