Catalogue Note

Sir William Coventry figures prominently in Pepys' Diary and became navy commissioner in 1662; Henry held many foreign posts before returning to become Secretary of State. The auction, held at Henry's house in Piccadilly, included a Shakespeare First Folio, a 12-volume Blaeu Atlas (1655), and many books of law, diplomacy, history, and both continental and English literature.
