Catalogue Note

The volume for 1703 is signed with initials at the end and the music is in the same hand throughout.  For a similar example, also initialled "J.L.,"  see British Library Add. Ms 71544, ("may well be autograph"); this contains the New Year music (1699) for William III, and bears an identical dedication to Princess Anne. Anne, daughter of James II, married Prince George of Denmark in 1683 and acceded to the British throne on 28 March 1702 on the death of William.
