Four volumes 8vo (9 1/4 x 5 3/4 in.; 238 x 144 mm). Engraved frontispiece portrait of Ariosto in volume 1, forty-six engraved plates, one at the start of each canto. Some spotting and browning, occasionally affecting plates. Contemporary binding attributed to Christian Samuel Kalthoeber: dark blue straight-grained morocco gilt, the covers with double roll-tooled border, spines richly gilt in compartments, gilt dentelles and edges, marbled endpapers; small damage on lower right corner of bottom of the spine of the second volume.
