4to (7 1/4 X 5 3/8 in.; 184 x 139 mm). Woodcut device of angel grasping a Tudor rose on title-page; title-page stained, otherwise a bright, fresh copy. Contemporary calf, border double-filleted in blind, plain smooth spine, plain endpapers, edges stained dark red; covers gouged but neatly restored, spine rebacked with backstrip laid down, marginal staining to endpapers.

Condition
4 parts in one volume, 4to (8 1/2 x 6 in.; 216 x 152 mm). Blank A1 present as front pastedown, general title with printer's ornament within double-ruled border, title to each part within double-ruled border with woodcut flaming heart device, metalcut headpieces, decorative woodcut initials, text within rules with marginal columns for printed side-notes. Contemporary limp vellum, gilt-ruled border, central tilt arabesque, edges gilt; some staining on upper cover, small portion of lower pastedown torn away, ties perished.

Catalogue Note
A fine association copy, with Izaak Walton's signature on the title-page. His son Isaac also signed the front free endpaper and dated it 1683, the year of the famous angler's death.
