Small 4to (7 5/8 x 5 5/8 in.; 192 x 142 mm). Title within woodcut architectural border; title soiled with a few marginal spots, some marginal spots in first three quires and occasionally after. Seventeenth-century blind-ruled calf, blind-stamped escutcheon on both covers; rebacked with part of original spine laid down, corners torn and some mended, escutcheon obscured by wear.

First edition of any part of the Thomas Phaer English translation "the most popular of all the Tudor translations having been published in whole or in part at least eight times" (Pforzheimer 1028). Very rare in the trade, there has been no copy at auction in the past fifty years.
