Modern half calf over eighteenth-century marbled boards, early red and blue speckled edges. Half brown morocco pull-off case.

Catalogue Note
First edition. In addition to his own Life of Paulinus, which contains a considerable amount of verse, this compilation includes Vaughan's translations from the Latin of two works by the Spanish Jesuit Juan Eusebio Nieremberg and one by a fifth century bishop of Lyon, Eucherius. Rare: this is the most recent copy to appear in the auction records (Bradley Martin sale, 1990) and only the second since 1950.
