Van Dalen's engraving in the first edition, headpiece of printer's ornaments on dedication and first page of text, woodcut initial; early repairs to upper inside corner of frontispiece, D2–3 cut close, costing the catchword of D2 and the signature mark of D3 and cutting into the signature mark of D2 and the catchword of D3. Modern brown morocco bound for Charles J. Sawyer, smooth spine lettered gilt, gilt-ruled turn-ins; turn-ins offsetting to free endpapers.
