Folio (11 1/8 x 7 3/8 in.; 284 x 185 mm). Engraved title-page by T. Cockson, woodcut cartouche (repeated on 2D5v) and headpiece on title-page, woodcut head- and tailpieces, historiated and floriated woodcut initials, headpieces composed of printer's ornaments, woodcut portraits of kings in profile (3D5r–3F6r), twenty-five full-length woodcut portraits in text of English monarchs (3G1r–3I1r), woodcut vignette of a sword piercing a heart and surmounted by a crown (4K4v); some light to moderate browning, long tear on L1 touching nine lines of text, small oxidized hole (2L1r) costing one letter, hole on 3M6r costing one word, lacks terminal blank. Contemporary calf double-filleted in blind, the spine in six compartments with raised bands, lettering-piece; joints neatly mended.
