P[otter]., woodcut initials and headpieces, text within ruled border with marginal column for side-notes. Contemporary limp vellum paneled gilt, center panel with the gilt arms of Sir Robert Naunton, spine gilt, paper labels with manuscript title and shelf mark, blue cloth ties; the arms rubbed with half the gilt gone on the upper cover, the labels defective, one pair of ties perished.

First edition in English in a contemporary binding with the arms of Sir Robert Naunton. A bright, fresh copy with wide, generous margins. Naunton was the author of Fragmenta regalia, or, observations on the late Queen Elizabeth, her times and favorits (1641; see lot 608).
