Contemporary morocco, gilt-ruled double-fillet border, with flower in urn stamps at four corners, smooth spine with gilt rules, edges gilt; extremities rubbed, small scuffmark in upper cover.

Catalogue Note

First edition, inscribed: "Elizabeth Cromwell her Book the gift of my Grandmother Cromwell 1663." This must be Elizabeth (1650-1731) daughter of Richard Cromwell, the Lord Protector, and the grandmother must be Oliver's wife Elizabeth Bourchier Cromwell (d. 1665).
