Catalogue Note
First edition by one of the best known early travel writers. Purchas devoted his entire life to collecting accounts of voyages around the world, as he states in his introduction: "I have laboured to reduce relations to their first Authors, setting their names to their allegations ... I have (to my great paines) contracted and epitomized whole volumes (and some very large) into one chapter." The eighth book of the work covers America.
