Four volumes [parts for two violins, "Thorough Bass for the Harpsichord, or Organ," and "Bassus"], folio (322 x 200 mm), engraved frontispiece portrait of Purcell (by White after Closterman) inserted into the first violin part, woodcut device to titles, dedication letter by Frances Purcell, lacking final blanks, some staining. Nineteenth-century cloth-backed card wrappers, various ownership inscriptions. Modern box.

William Sloane (or "Hoare") (inscriptions to titles) — Sir Thomas Acland, of Killerton, Exeter (inscriptions on wrappers) — Sotheby's London, 17 May 2002. lot 149. acquisition: Purchased at the foregoing sale through Bernard Quaritch. (nb: Sir Thomas Dyke Acland [1787–1871] was the son of Sir Thomas Dyke Acland [1752–1794] and his wife Henrietta Anne Hoare. Henrietta's portrait was painted by William Hoare of Bath [1707–1792], possibly relating to the ownership inscriptions on the titles.)
