Contemporary red morocco, gilt-tooled in a panel design with outer border, inner panel lined with scrollwork floral roll tool, gilt-stamped floral cornerpieces, spine with repeated oval stamp containing small floral tool, dentelles, edges gilt; rebacked with original spine laid down, some mends to corners.

Catalogue Note
First edition, the Herbert McLean Evans – Honeyman copy. This is the translator's copy with his inscription and his occasional manuscript corrections. Perrault (1613–1688) was an architect and anatomist, an active contributor to the Académie des Sciences. The second part is by Picard (1620–1682), the first person to measure the size of the Earth with a reasonable degree of accuracy.
