4to (7 1/8 x 5 1/2 in.; 181 x 140 mm).  Engraved frontispiece portrait, title with woodcut vignette, headpieces and decorative initials; edges of first few leaves browned, numerous notes and transcriptions of scripture by members of the Oxiden family. Contemporary calf; worn, spine cracked, spine ends chipped.

First edition. Tipped in is a note from F. William Lock, concerning the curious manuscript notes in this volume, ''This book is the commonest of all Henry Oxiden's publications but even at that it is rare.  This copy was Lee Warly's. He was an excentric [sic] lawyer of Canterbury, the last descendant of a daughter of Henry Oxiden. The signature on the back of the print is his early one, that on the title, the later.  The habit of writing sententious sentences is exhibited here. The whole family had it from Henry the author tho' his son who wrote most of those in this book to old Warly himself who filled numerous notebooks with the same. I have several of these.''
