The Way of Thrift, with blanks E2 and F7; title-page remargined on three sides touching a letter or two, minor dampstaining at lower fore-edges B5–C8. Blue morocco by Rivière, covers with gilt French fillet border, marbled endpapers, gilt edges; rubbed, rebacked.

Catalogue Note
First edition. Dedicated to Spenser, this work is traditionally attributed to Joseph Hall and regarded as part 3 of his Virgidemiarum. The I. S. mentioned on the title-page is likely John Stow, according to ESTC, rather than Joshua Sylvester. Rather scarce: this is evidently the first copy to appear at auction since the Arthur Houghton sale in 1979.
