Catalogue Note
First edition of the author's principal poem. "De Selincourt called it 'a worthy link' in the chain which connects Fletcher's great master, Spenser, and his great successor, Milton" (Pforzheimer). Milton indeed had a copy of the book (Boswell 602), and of course Paradise Lost was originally projected as a dramatic poem to be titled "Christ's Victory and Triumph."
