Catalogue Note
Fourth edition, third issue; an evidently unique copy—whether swan or goose—with the first quire made up of the 1854 cancel title-page and A3,4 from the 1649 first issue, so that the text of "The Printer to the Understanders" appears rather than the younger Donne's dedication to Lord Craven.
This volume was a gift from Charles Eliot Norton to James Russell Lowell. The two collaborated on the Grolier Club's 1895 scholarly edition of Donne's poems.
