Catalogue Note

Fourth edition, first issue, and the rarest of the seventeenth-century editions of Donne's Poems: ESTC records just six other copies. "Of this edition very few copies seem to have been circulated. … Probably it was never actually published, the sheets of most of the copies being incorporated in the volume issued by the same publisher in 1650 under the editorship of the younger Donne [see following lot]" (Keynes).
