Catalogue Note
First edition of Donne’s final sermon, preached 15 February 1631 despite the importunities of friends who were shocked by the change in his appearance through illness. He died five weeks later, and although the sermon was not printed until the following year, plans for its publication were among Donne’s final activities. The "Elegie on Dr. Donne" at the end is by Henry King, who helped see the volume through the press.
