Nineteenth-century dark blue calf, gilt roll-tooled border and frame with stamped crowns and scepters at each of four corners, gilt stamped title on spine, edges gilt; joints and corners worn.

First edition, one of three copies with the extra leaf after b4. "Verso [b4] has a catchword 'Incipit' which does not correspond with recto A but refers to an unsigned leaf containing verses by Hugh Holland which occurs in very few copies ..." (Pforzheimer, who goes on to cite the present copy). This, the rarest work of Coryate, is a protest against the pirated publication of the preliminaries to the Crudities, which appeared in 1611 under the title The Odcombian Banquet.
