Certain Elegant Poems is a first edition, early issue (without additional poems inserted after quire E). Poetica Stromata, printed the following year, contains eleven poems from the 1647 edition, plus an additional fourteen poems. One poem in this edition, "Upon Mistress Mallet," was retitled "Upon an Unhandsome Gentlewoman Who Made Love Unto Him." The 1672 edition incorporates all the poems from the 1647 edition as well as all but two from Poetica Stromata ("In Quendam Anniversariorum Scriptorem" and "In Poetam Exauctoratum et Emeritum") and adds "Dr. Corbets Journey into France."
