Modern polished calf paneled gilt, the spine gilt in six compartments (two reserved for lettering), gilt board edges, marbled endpapers, edges gilt.

Catalogue Note
Virtually the earliest obtainable edition. Very rare. The first edition, dated 1615, was sold to the British Library but is not yet recorded in STC and ESTC. An edition dated 1616, once recorded at the University of Pennsylvania, cannot be traced. STC records only the 1617 edition, being the William Stirling Maxwell (now Pirie) copy and ESTC lists copies only in the British Library, Glasgow University Library, and an undesignated number in private collections.
