Catalogue Note
Presentation copy from Sir Thomas Browne to Thomas Corie. Edward Brown's first original work; Sir Thomas Browne worked closely with his son on a number of his own projects, as well as advising on the present work. The endpaper opposite the title has the deleted but still legible inscription "Tho. Corie, Ex dono pra[e?] clarissimi Thoma. Browne Militis." The Corie of the presentation is perhaps legal scholar Thomas Corey and the few early ink notes in the text are presumably from his reading. Presentations from Browne are uncommon.
