8vo (8 1/2 x 5 1/4 in.; 215 x 132 mm). On pp. [77]-97 is a twenty-page lot description for Dibdin's Bibliomania, 1811 edition; title and last leaf reinforced. Contemporary calf, blind-tooled ornament on panels, gilt-stamped title on spine; rebacked, bottom of spine damage.

Catalogue Note
Gardiner's reply to Dibdin. According to Windle and Pippin: "The appendix, devoted entirely to Bibliomania, 1811, consists of a lengthy outraged retort to Dibdin's depiction of Gardiner and characterisation of his catalogues in that work: '… he deals out his censures with as little ceremony as correctness.'"
