Catalogue Note
First edition, first issue, with the text ending with the errata on Y4v, prior to its being reimposed to Z2 to accommodate the later added "Postscript" (and before the issuance of a trigger warning for the engraved title). A satiric disquisition on love and marriage, more in the vein of the author's Barnabae itinerarium, or Barnabee's Journal (1638) than his more sober English Gentleman (1630) and English Gentlewoman (1631). Appended to the text are Brathwait's poems "Menippus his Madrigall, to his Coy-duck Clarabel" and "Loves Festivall, at Lusts Funeral." The quatrain on the engraved title-page may safely be attributed to his inimitable hand as well.
