Condition

This very decorative dolls house is generally sound and has been well looked after, with exposure to only gentle play. The exterior may well have been re-decorated at some point. The roof and chimney's are good. There are scuffs to white paintwork. The metal catches to the front (which lift up to release) are a little sticky. The verandah lifts out to allow access to the interior. The interior is generally good and some of the later applied details are a little tired. The bowed base features scuffs, old marks and scratches from use, these are evident in the catalogue image there are also some chips to this with minor areas of exposed timber. The piece probably dates from the second quarter of the 20th century. The assembled and associated contents are from various dates and in various materials (ranging from plastic to blown glass). There is variations in scale. These pieces are generally in good order. Although there are some losses and some of the more fragile pieces may require some attention. Some components are detached (eg. leg of a doll, top of a long case clock). Some items that make up sets are incomplete or now lacking. There is the kind of wear that one would expect on this comprehensive group. Sotheby's can provide photographs upon request.
