Condition

Superb quality. This armchair would have originally had a think layer of gesso, bole and then gold leaf. It has been stripped at some point in its long history. The right arms has a later securing peg. The molded frame with patched and filled timber. There is rubbing to the carved detail, most probably as a result of stripping. There are traces of decoration to each arm. The recent upholstery is very attractive and in good order.
