Catalogue Note
This table does not appear to be based on a specific model, although it is strongly influenced by the work of Jean-Henri Riesener. There are particular similarities with a frieze on the commode from la chamber de la Reine à St-Cloud, now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the garlands of flowers and the monogram for Marie-Antoinette being especially close. Francois Linke also made this model under his title "Table Dasson", index number 879 in May 1904. An example of which sold in this room on April 19th, 2007, A private collection volume II lot 170 for $51,000.
