Description

  • height overall of clock and base 29 in.; height of candelabra 19 1/4 in.
  • 73.7 cm; 48.9 cm
comprising: a mantel clock modelled with four putti sitting amongst flower-encrusted borders, all raised on a scroll-molded triform base, and two three-branch, four-light candelabra, all with crossed swords marks in blue, the clock with incised numeral 2179 and impressed 76, the candelabra with incised numeral 8128 and impressed numerals 74 and 51. 

Condition

In good condition except: All with some occasional minor chips or losses to the tips of the applied flowers, leaves or to a few of the scroll-molded ends, some of which are restored. The clock: The 'Autumn' at the top has restoration to his left hand and the grapes on his head have a few minor chips to the edges. The 'Winter''s right foot is chipped away. The 'Summer's left foot is chipped away. There are several minor chips and some restoration to the wheat sheath's and his knife. The candelabra with 'Winter and Autumn': has restoration to all three candle nozzles and drip pans on the lower tier. One candelabrum branch has been broken off from its midpoint and restored back; the restoration is old and is flaking at places. The 'Winter' has restoration to his left arm and torso and some minor chips to the edges of the flames. The candelabra with 'Summer and Spring': 'Spring's right foot and leg are restored with made-up restoration; the restoration is old. There is a missing element in her right hand. There is a short firing crack running vertically between these figures at the stem of the candelabrum above the foot.
