after an 18th-century model by Johann Joachim Kändler, modelled in two sections with the youthful god seated in a rococo chariot borne through sunrays and clouds by four horses, attended by putti, crossed swords mark in blue.
Condition
Please note that the sections have not been examined separately out of the base and the underside of the group was not examined to prevent damages.
One of the horse's feet is broken off and another horse has a restored break to one foot. There is a tiny chip to the edge of one of the horse's mane. Several hooks where the horse reigns are tied have restoration, some of which have been further chipped away. The 'moon' and the 'star' that the putto is holding are restored; it is possible that they are replacements. There are several small chips to the edges of the floral wreath in Apollo's hair as well as to a few leave in the small vases which flank his carriage. The flame in his hand is restored. There is a small chip to the edge of one sunray emerging from his back and a small flat chip to the edge of the base, which is not disfiguring.
