Catalogue Note
Lesourd de Beauregard was a renowned French artist specializing in still-life paintings. He was born in Paris in 1800 and studied under Gérard van Spaendonck. In 1841 he was appointed Professor of botanical drawings at the Museum of Natural History, replacing Pierre-Joseph Redouté. From 1822 until 1869 he regularly exhibited at the Paris Salon. During this time, in 1849, it is possible that this table was exhibited in one of these Salons, as in a listing of his exhibits for that year, there is an entry described as Une table - fleurs 1849.
