Pile ranges from original 1/4in. in the borders with the central area low to knotheads. Upper end border rewoven, approx. 3.5ft. in width, now with some slits. Areas of foldwear and abrasions low to foundation with several tears, particularly along right side. One side with a long repaired slit along which a small, approx. 1in.-wide section has been removed from the carpet; probably done to make the carpet to lay flat on the floor. Scattered patches sewn on reverse. Small scattered reweaves. Scattered minor spot stains. Sides original, lower end with an approx. 1ft. by 5ft. rewoven fireplace area issuing repaired slits into field and with cloth band sewn on reverse. Supple handle, good vibrant color and classic design, with enhance with restoration and cleaning.
