modelled as a Chinaman seated before a palm tree on four bales with various inscriptions, the bales with apertures for quills.

Condition

There is a very small restored chip to the tip of his hat and a further minuscule glaze flake. There are some minor abrasions to the brim of his hat. The tip of his nose is restored. The is a tiny chip to the edge of each end of his mustache. Both of his hands have been broken off and restored back; one of his hands is restored with a made-up replacement. The restoration is slightly old. Both bales to the figure's right, each has restoration to two corners. The bales to his left, each with restoration to one corner. Two bales have some minor abrasions to the edges. The bottom one (inscribed 'No # 3. BM') has some restoration to where his cloak meets the bale. The densely-pierced container is in generally good condition apart from some chipping along the edges and a small restored rim chip. The other two containers are extensively restored and are possibly later replacements.
