  • Gelatin silver print
signed in ink in the margin, framed, 1932, printed later (The Modern Century, p. 81; The Early Work, p. 101)

Provenance

Sotheby's New York, 6 April 1993, Sale 6407, Lot 254

Condition

This print, on semi-glossy, double-weight paper, is in generally excellent condition. As is typical of Cartier-Bresson's later prints, there are a few scattered tiny deposits of original retouching that are visible in raking light. There are two pencil notations on the reverse of the print in an unidentified hand: 'HCB28' and '1.21.89.'
