Description

  • Josef Sudek
  • 'Konvalinka' (Lily of the Valley)
  • Gelatin silver print
credit, title, date, and annotations in Czech in pencil on the reverse, framed, circa 1954

Condition

This photograph, on semi-glossy medium-weight paper, is in generally very good condition. In raking light, a faint waviness of the paper is visible, as are a few small handling creases. This print has thin white margins. On the reverse of the print is the following: a 3-inch irregular-shaped, rust-colored stain; and 2 hinge remnants, which remain tacky. Notations in Czech are in an unidentified hand in pencil. 'VI' (circled), 'P 81101 008,' and various erased numerical notations are also written in pencil. When examined under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
