Description
- Manuel Álvarez Bravo
- 'Margarita de Bonampak'
- Glatin silver print
ferrotyped, mounted, signed and with title in pencil on the mount, title and date in pencil on the reverse, framed, 1949, probably printed in the late 1950s or 1960s (Kismaric, p. 131)
Condition
This ferrotyped print is in generally good to very good condition. As is typical of ferrotyped prints, some surface pitting, inconsequential scratches, and small creases are visible in raking light. An unevenness of the generally glossy surface is visible upon close examination, primarily in the left portion of the image. There is a small linear scratch (approximately 1/4-inch) across the sitter's nose, which does not appear to break the emulsion and is only visible when examined closely.
The photograph is mounted to thin, flexible, glossy card. The photographer has signed the mount in pencil, and a previous signature by the photographer is partially erased. The mount is soiled and faintly age-darkened along the upper and lower edges, and there is a thin discolored band near its left edge. There are abrasions to the glossy surface in the upper corners of the mount. There is light soiling on the reverse.
When examined under ultraviolet light, this print appears to fluoresce faintly.
