Condition

This print, on semi-glossy, very slightly textured paper, is in generally excellent condition. There is a miniscule area of emulsion loss at the upper left corner in the margin and two very faint handling creases that are only visible in raking light. These minor issues do not detract from this strong image with a rich, broad tonal range. In addition to the edition of 100 there were 15 artist's proofs and, as stated on the reverse of the print, there are a very limited number of prints made solely in conjunction with museum exhibitions. 'Portraits' was published by Harry N. Abrams, Inc., in association with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2002. The accordion-fold (10 1/2 x 272 inches when fully-opened) book is bound between two laminated boards, in a facsimile-photograph illustrated, dove-gray buckram slipcase. Aside from a barely discernible discoloration along the folds of the book pages and minor soiling on the slipcase, it is in generally excellent condition.
