Description
- Fragmentary Saint Catherine
- limestone
- French, second half 16th century
Condition
The figure is in fragmentary condition, lacking the head, the proper right arm and left hand of the saint as well as a section at the front of the base. There are some areas of chipping, including to the sway of drapery around the waist and the proper right leg. There is some weathering to the surface consistent with placement outside, and there is dirt to the surface throughout. A proportion of the surface may have been tinted as part of an earlier restoration campaign. Otherwise the condition of the stone is stable. There is a square hole for mounting to the reverse.
