Condition

Overall the condition of the wood is good with some dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. Four fingers on the proper left hand have been replaced, and a section of the hair on the proper left side has been restored. Further restored areas include: a section of the band to the proper right side of the Bishop's head, two sections at the edges of the folds of drapery in front of the Bishop's proper right leg, and a corner of the book. A section of the band to the proper left side of the Bishop's head appears to have been reattached. There is stable splitting to the wood consistent with the material, notably to the proper right side of the face and hat, to the proper left profile of the head and hat, to the chest, and to the bottom at the front. There are several chips and minor losses to the edges and high points, notably the top of the hat. There is a wood insert to the back of the Bishop's hat. There is evidence of minor non-active worming at the back. The bottom section of the base is made of pine and later.
