Condition

Overall the condition of the wood is good with some dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The Virgin's proper left hand and right forearm and St John's proper left hand are lost. There is wear to the gilding and polychromy throughout, including flaking and craquelure. There is some non-active worming, visible particularly at the back. There are several chips and minor losses to the edges of both terrasses. There is an area of restoration to the bottom edge of the Virgin at the back.
