  • the figures and titulus boxwood, in a partially glazed veneered wood case

Condition

Overall the condition of the wood is good. There is some minor stable splitting consistent with material including around the proper left elbow and the reverse of the Virgin and the chest and abdomen of Christ as well as the top edge and roof of the case, the cross base and the underside. There is a loss to Christ's perizonium at the proper right hip and the tips of both his index fingers. Christ's arms were carved separately; joints are visible at the shoulders. The roof of the case can be detached in order to pull out the glazing. The front window is lost.
