Condition
Overall the condition of the wood is good with wear and some dirt to the surface consistent with age. There are a few losses, including to the proper left front leg of the deer in the right corner and to part of Diana's proper left hand. There is wear to the carvings, in particular to the faces, and to the animals' ears, leading to minor losses. There is some stable splitting to the wood consistent with the material, notably around the bottom, and a split running through one of the women's feet at the bottom has some fill. There are a few small holes due to non-active worming in several areas, some of which have been filled. There are some minor chips and abrasions around the edges of the relief, and a possible restoration or separately carved area at the top right corner.
The wood frame is in good condition with some dirt and surface wear. There are a few minor losses to the decorative carving, and there is some evidence of past worming. It is composed in sections, and stable joints are visible. There is a wire for hanging at the back.
