There are a few chips and abrasions, including to the tip of the nose, the hair at the back (with some dirt marks) and the high points of the drapery and the rock work. There is a larger loss to a fold of drapery at the bottom of the cross. There are several nicks and scratches, notably to the chest, the proper left arm and the legs.
The onyx alabaster base is composed in sections; joints are visible, and there are some filled areas, possibly to conceal joints or open veins. There are several chips and small losses to its edges and corners, notably the back right corner. There is wear to the gilding on the bronze mounts.
