Description
- Holy water stoop with cherubs and a seated putto
- gilt bronze, mounted on veined red marble
- Italian, Rome, 18th century
together with an Italian, 18th century gilt bronze seated putto on a modern perspex base
Condition
Overall the condition of the stoop is very good with some wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age, including some dirt in the crevices and some tarnishing to the basin. The stoop is loose on the marble mount, which has some naturally occurring slightly open veining on the surface. The object can be hung by the gilt bronze knot at the top edge.
The condition of the putto is good with wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. It has several areas of rubbing to the gilding and minor nicks and scratches throughout. The condition of the perspex base is excellent.
