Description

  • glazed terracotta, with a metal mount for hanging
  • Workshop of Andrea (1435–1525) or Giovanni della Robbia (1469-1529) Italian, Florence, early 16th century
with a paper label numbered: 1322 on the reverse

Condition

Overall the condition of the relief is good with wear and some dirt to the surface consistent with age, including some dirt in the crevices of the corners. There are a few chips and some wear to the glaze at the edges of the relief, the edge of the lunette and the high points of the rays of the sun, some of which was caused by the mount. The reverse was later stabilised with clay. The metal mount has some oxidisation.
