Description

  • Pendant with a rosary
  • partially enamelled gold and glass
  • Spanish, late 17th century
together with a Spanish, 18th century, enamelled gold button pin set with glass pastes

Condition

Overall the condition of the pendant is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age and light wear to the gold. There is some wear including craquelure to the enamelling, including to the inner frame of the pendant, and there are some losses to the enamelling on its outer frame. The metallic wire at the bottom of the rosary is slightly open in places. There is a small abrasion to one of the glass panels covering the pendant. The gold within the pendant has a fissured structure. The rosary has probably been restrung. The pin is in good condition with minor dirt and wear consistent with age. There are a few losses to the enamelling, notably to four sections of one of the middle buttons. There are some nicks to the cut glass pastes. One of the buttons revolves in its setting.
