Description

- Spanish, first half 17th century
respectively inscribed: MA, IHS, A... / GNAC/ NCER / SNPI
Condition
Overall the condition of the badges is good, with wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age and handling. There is wear and some tarnishing to the metal, in particular to one of the badges with two angels and the badge with the Virgin. There is some minor warping, notably to the decorations at the outer edges. The badges are composed in parts, and a few of the metal panels are slightly loose in their settings. There are several losses to the enamelling on all badges, and notably to the rays of the badge monogrammed 'VW'. Two of the glass paste settings of the badge with the Virgin are lost, and there are chips and abrasions to the remaining glass pastes. There is wear to the cloth and paper settings of three of the badges. The cloth setting of the triangular badge has been stabilised with a plastic sheet.
